Make Oil Spill Donations through the Larry King Live Telethon on CNN
Approximately a week after BP pledged to provide $20B in funds to those whose livelihoods were affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, CNN will host a telethon on Larry King Live to raise additional funds for Gulf Coast relief.
From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST on June 21, 2010, many celebrities will join Larry King to ask America for donations. Concurrently, Ryan Seacrest will raise money on Twitter for the same event. Three charities will benefit from this telethon – the United Way, The National Wildlife Federation, and The Nature Conservancy.
Anyone who calls in may specify which organization will receive his or her donation. The United Way will use the money it raises to help the people affected by the oil spill. The National Wildlife Federation will use its donations to save wildlife and restore ecosystems. The Nature Conservancy will direct funds toward Gulf Coast habitats like salt marshes, oyster reefs, and beaches.
