This article profiles the creator of ShaNickers, designer Shannon Jernigan. Learn about her design philosophy, the story about ShaNickers, and where to purchase Shannon’s contemporary creations.
What are ShaNickers?
Simply put, ShaNickers are repositionable peel and stick wall decals that can be later removed without damaging walls. The designs are edgy and contemporary. The decals can also be used outdoors and on textured surfaces.
The ShaNickers Story: Unique, Modern Wall Art for Discriminating Decorators
Shannon got the idea for ShaNickers wall decals and murals when she was looking for something for her own home that she ultimately could not find. So, she made decals ("branches") out of wood grain contact paper, and ShaNickers was born.
Today, ShaNickers decals are made of a commercial grade self-adhesive removable indoor/outdoor vinyl. They are similar to modern wall art available from Chiasso. Chiasso enthusiasts will certainly feel right at home with Shannon’s designs because her designs are equally as modern as Chiasso’s.
Affordable and Versatile Designs: A Great Look at a Reasonable Price

Shannon Jernigan’s Design Style
Shannon Jernigan understandably stands out because her ShaNickers wall art is so unique and super easy to use. An interior designer by trade, Shannon keeps up with current trends and responds appropriately with relevant looks that speak to current trends. She describes her design style as “extreme eclectic;” mixing styles and materials is her favorite way to design.
A Decorator at Heart: Dabbling with Design at a Young Age
Interested in decorating and design at a young age, Shannon would rearrange her childhood bedroom furniture around the room simply because she was bored with the arrangement. Translate that desire into adulthood, and Shannon churns out designs that strike her fancy at any given moment. New designs are inspired by everyday ordinary things. Her “signals” design was born out of a simple stop at a traffic light. “I was sitting at a stop light thinking of new designs, and I look up at the traffic signals, and voila, ‘signals’ was born!” says Shannon.
Other Creative Endeavors: Hand-Painted Room Dividers and Pillows
In addition to wall art, Shannon makes hand-painted room dividers and hand-painted pillows. According to Shannon, since all room dividers and pillows are painted free hand, no two are exactly alike.
Good news for Shannon’s fans - she claims to have a vast desire to create and hopes to launch another store called "Urban Accent Home" in the near future.
